I love #hashtags
The # symbol called a hashtag, is a great way to mark your keywords or phrases in a tweet.
Hastags were originally created by twitter users to categorise their messages.
Using the hashtag symbol before a relevant keyword or phrase, (no spaces) helps to categorise those words, enabling them to show up more easily in twitter searches.
When clicking on a hashtagged word in a tweet you will be able to see all the tweets marked with that keyword.
Hashtagged words that become very popular are often trending topics.
- You can use hashtags anywhere in a single tweet – at the beginning, middle, or end
- Don't overdo hashtags – I advise not to use more than two/ three # in each tweet
- Check out trending keywords / phrases - If appropriate, use these in your tweets to grab more attention
